Uncontrollable Magic (Part 1)
A Fantasy Short Story
Levi stomped out the door of the rickety shack, grabbing the bucket of chicken feed as he went. His mom just didn’t understand. His powers were getting harder to control. He threw a few handfuls of corn at the waiting chickens, and watched a moment as they pecked the ground.
Heaving a sigh, he headed towards the barn to milk the cow. “Hi girl, ready to be milked?” He ran his hand down the cows back, she let out a moo as if answering yes to his question. Sitting down on the stool, he went to work.
His mind drifted to the other chores he needed to get done this morning. When the milking was finished, he turned around to find, that once again his magic was controlling him. Hay flew around the barn landing in the sheep pen and both horse stalls. A pitch fork was hard at work shoveling manure. Water buckets drifted through the air as they made their way to water troughs.
“Oh no.” The words barely came out as a whisper, as he looked around frantically. If he was caught doing magic it could mean prison, or even worse, death. He closed his eyes and yelled. “Stop.”
Slowly he opened his eyes. Everything had fallen to the ground. Water spilled over the dirt; hay was dropped into a pile. Breathing a sigh of relief, he headed to the house with his pail of milk.
