Thing I Wish I Had Known Before Having My First Kid
Having kids will change your life forever.
I was completely unprepared for how much my son would change my life. He infiltrated every aspect of what I did on a daily basis. I felt like I was no longer living the same life, everything had changed.
Change isn’t a bad thing, and changing because you have a child isn’t bad either. There are three things I wish I had known before I had my son that might have better prepared me.
1 You give birth to that child and you are responsible for them, no matter what your husband, boyfriend, or partner says. When I got pregnant my husband told me he would help out every day. My life didn’t have to change that drastically. Everything would be equal.
As I’m sure you’ve guessed, that didn’t happen. He was around the first week to help here and there, but then he started finding excuses to go outside when I would ask him to help. If I asked him to watch our son so I could take a break for an hour, there was always something more important he had to do that couldn’t wait.
I’m not saying everybody is going to be the way my husband is. But if I had known that I would be taking care of my son and husband twenty-four hours a day without a break, I might have thought about moving closer to my family before having my child.
