Ten Years Of Marriage

How to keep the romance alive.

My husband and I just celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary. Some days it feels like we have only been married a few months other days I feel like we have been married for fifty years.

I know him better than anyone, and he knows me better than anyone. We have been through so much together.

When we first got married we lived in a one room cabin with no running water or electricity. It took us almost three months to get the water and power hooked up. We worked all day, everyday but it was worth it.

A year later we sold the place and moved onto some property closer to his parents where we built our own house. We did all the work ourselves and within two weeks we were moved in. Of course the house wasn’t exactly finished yet. The walls still needed to be painted and the only room that actually had working electricity was the living room. But it didn’t matter, it was ours and we were happy.

A couple years later my husband got hurt and things got tough. He couldn’t work and I couldn’t find a job. Money was tight and we cut way down on our expenses and even had to cut our weekly grocery bill by a third. We argued more and talked less, but we stuck together and rode out the rough patches.
