New Year, New You

We are heading into the new year, and you know what that means; new year resolution time. Most everyone makes new years resolutions, and most people don’t keep them. Life tends to get in the way of your best-laid plans, leaving you feeling discouraged. Then you end up giving up on whatever your goal for the year was.

Here are a few simple tips that might help you keep that new year’s resolution this year.

Be specific with your goal.

If you’re like most people, you tend to make broad goals, like lose weight, exercise more or spend more time with the family. What you should be doing is making specific goals. If you want to lose weight, figure out how much you want to lose and make that your goal.

As an example, my goals for this year are to lose ten pounds and have one night a week be family game night. My goals are small, specific, and easily achievable within a year. There are, of course, more than two goals on my list for 2021. This brings me to my next point.

Don’t make too many or too few goals.

Do you make one big goal or several smaller ones? A lot of people make one big goal that they never achieve. Those that make small goals end up making a whole page full. Then get discouraged when halfway through the year only two goals have been accomplished.
