I’m Stronger Than You Think

Strength isn’t measured by how much weight you can lift.

I grew up with two brothers. I had to be strong physically, mentally and emotionally. Everyday was a competition. As much as I hated it when I was younger, I am thankful that having two brothers made me such a strong person.

You may be wondering what traits make a person strong. Well let me tell you why I am a strong person.

I am strong because I am resilient. Being resilient means you have the ability to adapt to the changes life throws at you. Bounce back from the many problems that you will face with determination and skill. When you find your life turned upside down and out of control having resilience may be the key to weathering the turmoil.

Besides my two brothers, there were three other people who were important in my life. My mother, grandfather and grandmother.

When my grandfather passed away it chipped away a small part of my heart. Two years later my mother passed away, and it was the hardest thing I had ever gone through. I had just turned twenty two and the emptiness her death left in me was hard to overcome.

A few years later my grandmother passed away and for a couple months I fell into a depression. It took some time but I adjusted to the changes in my life and am so much stronger because of it.
