Self-discipline can be hard to achieve, but it doesn’t have to be.

We all make plans and schedules with the best of intentions. But one thing leads to another and before you know it, things spiral out of control and all your schedules and plans fall apart.

Then comes the guilt for not being more disciplined, then the obsession with planning and scheduling and the vicious cycle starts all over again.

Here are some tips to help you develop habits that keep you on a path to self-discipline that lasts!

Ask why

Self-discipline is a state of mind, so in order to keep yourself disciplined you need to ask yourself why you want to be disciplined in the first place. Do you want to be more productive? Or maybe you want to live a healthier life?

Whatever your reason, It has to be strong enough that you wont want to give up.

Delay gratification

In order to succeed, sometimes you have to pass on something that’s right in front of you for something better down the road. Delayed gratification is one of the most important traits of successful people. So pass on the donut and other snack food so you can loos weight. Pass on staying out late at night so you can get up for work on time the next morning.
