Growing up Digital
Parenting a child in a digital world.
Parenting a child has never been easy, but now with all this technology it’s hard to know what’s okay for your child and what’s not.
I wanted to raise my child in the same way I was raised. Go outside play with your friends, don’t worry about computers and video games. I realize that’s just not realistic.
Unfortunately we live in different times and technology is a vital part of our society.
So is screen time healthy for our children?
This is a questions most parents ask and there really is no good answer.
Kid’s regularly use digital devices in school so we can’t ban them from being online. Instead we should be focusing on teaching them how to use technology the right way. As parents we also need to be aware that too much screen time can lead to technology junkies and screen addiction.
How much screen time is to much?
One study recommended that children under the age of 5 have little to no screen time. Another study recommended children between the ages of 2–4 have no more then one hour of screen time. Apparently no one can really agree on what is too much.
