Do We Still Celebrate Christmas?

Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. The decorations and lights. The family meals and Christmas songs. There was always so much joy.

Each year it seems Christmas comes earlier. I saw Christmas decorations for sale in the middle of November this year. I also noticed that all the big Christmas deals start on Thanksgiving now instead of what use to be black Friday.

I have watched so many people get caught up buying the best gift or getting the best deal. I’ve watched people spend hundreds of dollars on baskets full of video games, computers and other toys.

Do people even remember why we celebrate Christmas anymore?

What happened to the joy of Christmas?

I have to admit that last year I too got sucked into the whole retail side of Christmas. I found myself at a store on Thanksgiving night, wading through a sea of people. It took me half and hour just to get checked out. All so I could get some toys for my little boy.

For some reason I had decided that without expensive gift you just didn’t have much of a Christmas.

Well the expensive gift did not make us have a Merry Christmas. In fact it was one of the worse Christmas’s I have ever had.
