Being A Parent In 2020
I think we can all agree that this year has been difficult. Things have changed, and they may never be the same again. Being a mother to a three-year-old has been my biggest struggle.
Parents aren’t the only ones that struggled, our kids struggled too. They struggled to understand why schools shut down. Why they had to start wearing a mask everywhere they went. Why they are learning online at home. Why they can’t go to the movies or hang out at the park. They struggle to understand why all this is happening, and they struggle to understand when it will return to normal.
As parents, it’s our job to provide them with the answers, but that’s hard when we don’t know the answers ourselves.
It was hard to explain to my three year old why he couldn’t go play at the park. He just didn’t understand. It was heartbreaking to see him cry when mommy went grocery shopping without him because he loved to help pick out the foods for our meals.
After much deliberation, my husband and I decided that we had to try to explain that people were getting very sick. This created a whole new set of problems. When either I, or my husband would leave the house, there were always tears, and crying that he didn’t want us to get sick.
It was a very emotionally trying time, not only for our child but for us as well. After several…
