A Married single mom
I feel like a single mother, even though I am married.
Being a mother is hard work. It’s overwhelming, exhausting, and sometimes frustrating. When you are married you would think that the responsibilities would be split a little more equal, but for a lot of women that just isn’t the case.
Not only do mothers take care of the children they also do the cooking, cleaning, and sometimes work a job as well.
If you feel like you are stuck doing it all, you are not alone. A survey of 1,200 mothers by TheBump.com and ForbesWomen.com stated that 24% of working moms and 28% of stay at home moms felt like they were “married single moms”.
I often times feel overwhelmed with my parenting responsibilities as well as taking care of the household. When I ask my spouse for help I get very little or none at all. Instead, I get excuses like “I’m too tired” or “I don’t know how to do that”.
It can be very frustrating to get excuses instead of help from your partner when you are feeling overwhelmed.
A survey of 1,000 dads revealed that 68% felt parenting should be divided equally, but only 30% were actually sharing the responsibility.
A 2010 survey by Proctor & Gamble of 1,000 Dads revealed that 91% felt there relationship was better when they helped out with household chores.
If dads really feel this way then why do so many woman feel like they are “married single moms.
