5 Ways to beat Procrastination
We all procrastinate over something, even successful people.
So why do we procrastinate? New research from Joseph Ferrari at DePaul University shows that procrastination stems from negative emotions that hijack your mood. If we aren’t in the right mood to do a certain task we procrastinate by finding other tasks to do.
The key to beating procrastination is taking back control of your mood. Easier said than done, I know. Here are a few tricks to help you beat your procrastination.
1. Figure out why you are procrastinating.
If you aren’t in the mood to work you mind is probably trying to tell you something important. It could be something as simple as you are hungry because you skipped breakfast. And then it could be something way more complex. Whatever the reason, take a moment to figure out what you need in order to stop procrastinating.
2. Just get started, no matter what.
The first step or word or even paragraph is the hardest. Once you get started it gets easier as you go and your mood can improve drastically.
3. Cut your projects in half. (or even thirds)
